Elastica Engineering just launched a comprehensive new line of crazy, wonderful and wierd latex luchadore masks!

Masks (máscaras) have been used dating back to the beginnings of lucha libre (Mexican wrestling) in the early part of the 20th century, and have a historical significance to Mexico in general, dating to the days of the Aztecs. Early masks were very simple with basic colors to distinguish the wrestler. In modern lucha libre, masks are colorfully designed to evoke the images of animals, gods, ancient heroes, and other archetypes, whose identity the luchador takes on during a performance.

Marika, from Elastica Engineering told me how they came up with the idea. “We wanted to do something fun and also explore a new niche in the fetish market.” she continues “To date, we’ve yet to see any large companies make latex luchadore masks, and since we supply our own sheeting (giving us a huge range of colors to play with) and have a laser cutter (allowing us to make whatever overlays our imaginations dream up) it seemed like the perfect fit!”

Being the good Irish Catholic girl that I am, I have fond memories of being bounced up and down on *Father O’Flagherty’s knee at the tender age of 12, attending convent school through my formative years and wearing a green gabardine uniform which was an exact replica of the nun’s black habit. Hey, I still even harbour that good ol’ Catholic guilt syndrome and can say the Hail Mary in three languages.

And I have a thorough working knowledge of Holy Week (the last week of Lent and the week preceding Easter Sunday). I know my Palm Sunday from my Maundy Thursday from my Good Friday, Holy Saturday and the Easter Vigil. It’s ingrained…

However the Irish are so dull and lightweight with their religious festivals. All I got as a child was endless Decades of the Rosary and Stations of the Cross. Maybe if we had more thrills and spills I might have engaged more with organised religion.  Give me Day of the Dead to celebrate All Souls Day or Mardi Gras for Shrove Tuesday any time. The biggest thrill I had as a budding Catholic was on Ash Wednesday when we lined up to be annointed with ashes on our foreheads (our Catholic badges of honour). I always wanted the priest to mark a nice clear cross on my forehead with the ashes. All I ever got was a smudgey dirty mark as he lazily daubed it on, obviously bored as he worked his way around the devout congregation.

And Holy Week itself just comes and goes without exception in these parts. The biggest festival in the Christian calendar is a bit of a damp squib with the only excitement being a Cadburys Buttons egg at the end of it all.

Cue Spain and their celebrations during Holy Week (Semana Santa). Bah gum they know how to do it there with their processions of “pasos”, lifelike wood or plaster sculptures of individual scenes of the events that happened between Jesus’ arrest and his burial. The pasos are set up and maintained by religious brotherhoods “Nazarenos” dressed in penitential robes with conical hats used to conceal the face of the wearer.

So when I got wind of the fact that The Penitential Order of The RubberCult was preparing for the rubber rite of Semana Santa at Torture Garden Easter Ball my flesh came over all goose-pimpley! Catholic guilt mixed with rubber devotion – what’s a Catholic rubberist supposed to do? I know! I’ll be there on the front row at the main stage at midnight watching the performance of RubberCult members Brother Larvatus Prodeo, Sister Cynth Icorn, Mother Superior Sister Kim RUB, Sister Ana Mantis, SISTER HEAVEN and Sister Ruby Soho.

Who knows what piously perverted sight will meet my eyes… Will they carry processional candles? Walk barefoot? Carry shackles and chains in their feet as penance? Or will they go all out and self-flagellate or even have themselves nailed to crosses as expressions of penance…?

Who knows where this will end…or begin!

The Baroness, Kink Engineering, Lady Oops, Dawnamatrix Designs, Lovely Latex, Anatomic Bomb and FetishMovies.com.

Marilyn’s victory was not easily won. Competing with her for the title were nine excellent rivals, including designers, models, and Dominatrixes. Most, like Marilyn, had extensive connections in the fetish community and had elaborate stage shows for the fantasy performance competition. Lydia Lael, first runner up in the competition, won over $4,000 in prizes, and third place winner Sophia Larou took home over $2,000 in latex swag.

“Shae Fatale definitely deserved to win,” said contestant Queen Titania. “She had the coolest, most creative outfits. Although Austin White kind of deserved to win for walking around in ballet boots like it was nothing. Regardless, I had a lot of fun last night and met some very cool people.”

One of Marylin’s first duties as Miss Rubber World 2012 will be to represent the title and the rubber community at Fetish Evolution Weekend, April 6-8, in Germany.

Libidex, maybe UK’s largest latex design house was sold to Chinese latex manufacturer Catfish Latex. What Catfish Latex paid for the deal is a secret, but Libidex’s founder and now former head designer Simon Rose stated that the offer was to good to be refused.

The final details of the deal are not settled yet, but will be in the weeks to come by their lawyers. It seems that the takeover of Libidex sister company Radical Rubber, which was part of the original deal, needs to be settled through a separate contract and a new offer has to be made. Radical Rubber is a well known supplier for latex sheeting and its takeover by the Chinese manufacturer might effect the future latex sheeting supply for the smaller European designers.

Catfish Latex is China’s biggest latex manufacturer and has been a huge player on the international latex fashion scene since 2005. From their huge factory in Guangzhou, China, they have been supplying latex fans worldwide with a long range of original latex designs. Catfish Latex aims to move Libidex’s production to China in order to ensure low cost and high quality products to their valued customers.

The main reason for the acquisition was that Libidex is a marked leader and a long time competitor of Catfish Latex. Helena from Catfish Latex explained that this is just the first step of many to ensure Catfish Latex a strong position on the market and set themselves apart from the rest – making them the world leader in the latex fashion industry. “Everybody will eventually be wearing our latex designs” she concludes.

To our disappointment, no sub (pain slut or no) in his/her right mind was going to offer unfettered butt hide up to us wannabe Calamity Janes, as we wielded our bull whips, snake whips, signals, quirts, sjamboks and whatever variety of single tails we could get our eager hands on! Luckily however, there were two very willing victims in the form of Bondage Teddy Bears #1 and #2. They didn’t scream, wail or complain when we miss fired and caught them round the head, neck or ears or even knocked them off their perch completely!

Not that such disasters happened too frequently under the watchful gaze of DK Leather and Luisa LeatherEagle. They expertly guided, advised, encouraged and entertained our diverse group of single tail students be they pro dommes, recreational dabblers or complete novices. Two more down to earth, warm, welcoming, sensitive humans you could never hope to meet.

They answered most of the burning questions of the day –

1. Which single tail to buy?
That was covered in detail by DK and Lu showing us examples from their precious collection, from everyday nylon whips to the Victor Tella masterpiece which was caressed and wowed at by all as it passed around the circle.

2. Is it a good idea to crack your single tail whip on a person’s body?
Hell no! That thing is moving so fast it’s breaking the sound barrier (the cracking sound you hear is the sonic boom) the force of which could also break bones.

3. What do you do with it?
Onlookers were treated to the hypnotic sight of the expert Lu demonstrating the “kiss of the whip” on the virgin milky white flesh of Claire (Sacred Pleasures). She started by showing us the importance of warming up the skin with gentle, sensuous motions known as “dog-tailing”.  Then DK took over to gradually move on to full throwing of the whip. The intensity of her actions did draw blood, showing us the sheer power of the implement.

4. Can we have a go?
DK and Lu dedicated 1-1 time with each student to support and guide in finding a whip to suit the individual and showed each how to use it accurately and safely.

This was no ordinary workshop though. After a home cooked hearty feast provided by London Faerie (our Sacred Pleasures host for the evening), it was time to get dolled up for the play party. When the group was ready DK and Luisa opened a “sacred circle” and then it was playtime! With these world-class Dominants at the helm, we enjoyed exploring the new skills we had learnt in this sexy, lovingly-held playspace.

So, a 3 hour workshop, a dinner and play party later, there was just one more burning question left unanswered – why in a class of 16 students, was there only one man…?

And there I was, 5 months later, in a front row pew, an eager participant on the maiden voyage of Miss Kim’s Mistress Workshop (held in a secret location in East London). And as it turned out, myself and my fetish buddy Biwitched were lucky to even get a place on the list. The room was packed with a female menagerie of likeminded kinksters: housewives who had discovered after years of marriage that they shared the same fetish of forced feminisation with their cross dressing husbands; your common or garden Fetlife pervert like yours truly; and even those in the virgin stages of thinking about a career as a pro-domme.

What followed was 4 solid hours worth of informative, entertaining, knowledgeable, light hearted talk and discussion, punctuated by practical demonstrations of erotic spanking and Japanese rope bondage. For the spanking session, we were treated to the delicious sight of Miss Kim herself going to town on the sweet rump of her young assistant Charlie. Then the king of Shibari himself, Esinem, strolled in and proceeded to skilfully bind his sinewy model while she quietly slipped into subspace…not even a breath was felt in that roomful of strong minded women…no mean feat Esinem!

The whole afternoon was (masterfully!) executed by Miss Kim. She shared her 23 years of knowledge and experience in an open minded, sensitive, humorous and, above all, objective fashion. She certainly never pertained that her way was the right way, but rather encouraged each individual to find their own direction with, of course, more than a few pointers and words of advice to help achieve successful and mutually fulfilling domination!

Kim also shared her infamous bank of 100 Kinky Tips with us, her novices. Don’t even think about trying to prise any out of us though. Like a Wonka Golden Ticket, we swore to keep them close to our chests.

And then of course there’s our homework assignment to complete… A Mistress’ work is never done!
