2 Libidex Launches German Website 2010-08-05T08:43:25Z 2010-08-03T17:29:33Z London-based Libidex Ltd, one of the world’s favourite latex labels, has launched a new German-language website for customers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. www.libidex.de, which went live on Saturday 31st July, is being run in partnership with Hans Telles of German latex label el-Conde. London-based Libidex Ltd, one of the world’s favourite latex labels, has launched a new German-language website for customers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

www.libidex.de, which went live on Saturday 31st July, is being run in partnership with Hans Telles of German latex label el-Conde. Hans will be operating the site for Libidex in Germany, handling orders and dealing with German-speaking customers direct.

Libidex believes the new site will make buying latex easier and more convenient for customers in German-speaking countries, which are Libidex’s second largest market after the UK. They will be able to discuss their requirements in their own language with German-speaking staff, and will not have to pay the additional costs of postage from the UK, since all garments will be despatched from Libidex’s German centre.

The site carries a full description in German of each garment, together with pictures, and there is an easy-to-use shopping cart system. All prices are designated in Euros, and payment is accepted by bank transfer or credit card. Prices are the equivalent of those advertised on the UK website, and at the moment both sites are offering a discount of 25% on normal prices during the Libidex Summer Sale.

Libidex’s Simon Rose believes the new site will improve service to customers as well as generating new business for Libidex: “While we already have quite a few customers in German-speaking countries, I don’t think we should assume everyone there can or wants to speak English! The feedback that we’ve been getting is that there are a lot of German speakers who prefer to discuss their purchases in their own language, and we hope that having a centre in Germany that operates under regulations they are familiar with, will not only be far more convenient, but also make them feel happier and more reassured when they buy from us”.

Well despite the insufferable closeness and relentless sweat that is the rubber-wearer’s lot in high summer, we’re still having big fun here in London. July saw Club Rub’s  Mystical Magical Wonderland at the Lightbox in Vauxhall will the widest variety of costumes at a fetish party I’ve seen for a while: everything from the Duke of Wellington to what I can only describe as Where the Wilds Things Are meets a grassy swamp, plus a myriad of be-winged nymphet-fairies.

Other Club Rub highlights included an exotic dance show  featuring latex chaps and girls on leads; plus a popular old school Wet T-shirt competition and pictured left is the winner Lisa Carradus. Frankly: everyone there was a winner.

I really enjoyed cooling off outside and welcomed the club’s excellent garden which at times seemed to turn into a club night of its own. My personal thanks go to photographer Rah who fought past a ‘paparazzi’ of fetish photographers to get us this cool shot above. Her website can be found at www.rah.info.

Etsy.com is a relatively new (founded in ’05)  e-commerce community where one can buy and sell all sorts of handmade items, from garments to home furnishings to original artwork. Their motto is “buy, sell, and live handmade.”

Good thing for us, they seem to be fetish-friendly. Recently, there’s been an upsurge of upstart and established latex designers starting shop pages on the site. I’ve compiled a list of pretty much all the latex designers I’ve found plus extra non-latex designers that may be of interest to you.

I hope more latex designers will jump on the Etsy bandwagon. We definitely need another alternative to fleabay. The best thing about shopping on Etsy: no more having to drudge through sixty pages of moldy molded gear and PVC or ‘wet look’ spandex crap when browsing.
