It's the middle of March and warmer weather is fast approaching. The other day I was talking to GF about latex bathing suits. A couple things that came to mind were - how "everyday" would the suits be? Could you wear them to the beach without garnering too much notice and have GF feel umcomfortable by staring eyes.
With the fabrics that todays bathing suits are made of, I feel that it would not be out of the ordinary to have a latex bathing suit. Vinyl might be more noticeably striking, however, if done with style and not too over the top, I think it would be perfectly acceptable to wear to a mainstream beach and not garner negative attention.
The next question was wearability. While pvc and vinyl have a fabric backing that is similar to swimwear fabric, latex rubber and the beach could cause some discomfort. Would the hot temperatures of the beach cause the latex to heat up and subsequently make the wearer sweat and be uncomfortable?
We all sweat anyway at the beach, so I think it's just a matter of testing it out and seeing if it creates undue discomfort. Should a fabric backing be applied on the underside of the suit to try and alleviate the sweat problem? I definitely feel that light colors should be used - black latex or black vinyl would definitely retain heat and make things less comfortable.
