I like to talk about the psychology of images, and more specificaly the psychology of why I like a particular image. I love this shot because it is natural, and gives the appearance of "realness".
The model is natural. She doen't look like a "fake" pornstar with super long eyelashes, caked on makeup, soul-less, dead, or unfeeling. The model here looks like she's a real person, experiencing real emotions as she's standing there.
Secondly - the model doesn't look trashy. Let me distinguish - you can look like a "real" person (versus a "fake" porn star type paid model), but still look trashy. The trashy look are the amaturish models who look like real girls who just walked out of a trailer park. This model looks almost motherly. Gentle, caring, responsible - tuck the kids into bed with a story type (am I getting too Oedipus sounding).
This models gentle look is a striking contrast to the actual scene. She's wearing a black vinyl corset and black pvc skirt with both wrists attached to a bondage bar. Excellent contrast! So real! I love it. Also - the scene itself appears to have been shot with only natural light from the room and window. It's not overproduced. It feels natural - it feels like what I would come home to. Hmmm - maybe that's why I like it so much... Baby - put dinner in the oven at 6:00 and don't forget to wear the pvc corset, I'll be home shortly!
